I love pupusas de frijol con queso and revueltas. The place feels very cozy and well decorated. The lady was very nice to me and being that I was in a neighborhood that was filled with Salvadorean love and culture that helped raise and molded me into the man I was going to become. Nostalgic in many ways for me, Thank you
(Translated by Google) The popusas are very delicious. The bad thing is that their schedule is never as published. They either close early or have meetings. It is very uncomfortable to turn around and waste time

Muy ricas las popusas.lo malo que su horario nunca es como se publica.o cierran temprano o hacen reuniones.muy incmodo dar la vuelta y perder tiempo
Food is good, and prices are very reasonable, the only problem is they don't have ac and is hot in there. Maybe take out vill be better.
Pupusas are made to order so it takes a but but so worth it! It's small inside so we always phone order and pick up.

Excelente lugar para comer, comida fresca y un excelente sabor.
This was my first time taking out food from this place. The female attending me was kind. I bought about $100 worth of food. Unfortunately, I didn't get everything. And, unfortunately, we didn't eat the minute I got home. We ate a few hours later. So, by the time I checked to see if I received everything I paid for, I noticed an item missing. I really dislike when this happens. I never called because I figured the time had passed so long that they might not believe me.
The food was good, maybe a little too greasy, but the taste was good. Would still recommend this place, but I would highly recommend checking the tide up bags they hand you. Maybe have them go through the things so that way you know you're going home with what you paid.
We love coming here. They make them when you get there. They don't taste frozen like other places. We had the revueltas, queso con loroco, and a canoa. Definitely recommended. They have kids' plates, too.
Popular were good. Very good. My meal I didn't enjoy much due to lack of flavor

I've seen this place a few times as I've driven by. I finally decided to try it out. They have convenient parking behind the restaurant. I ordered pupusas revueltas and a quesadilla de asada. The pupusa was made fresh and was delicious! I would definitely recommend this place for the pupusas. The the quesadilla was good. Nothing out of the ordinary. The reason I did not give this is higher rating was due to the wait time which was about 35 min after I placed my order. The customer service I received was exceptional and I left very happy although I waited a bit longer than what I am used to but then again the food was fresh and it's a small establishment with one waitress waiting on all the tables. I will definitely come back as long as I have a bit of more free time. Recommend if you're looking for good pupusas.

Great quality food no doubt ? the service can be better but I didn't come for the service overall I would recommend taking it to go if you live close by.
Love the pupusas here. They recently remodeled the exterior, but not much to the interior. Staff is friendly and prices are reasonable.
The best pupils I ever tried, simply a good place for tasty food.
Pretty good food, fare price, medium wait times for fresh food.
One of best Salvadorian food in Los Angeles, very clean and friendly service,I well be back and i well bring all my friends.
This place is great! They have a variety of pupusas, which is always a plus. I usually like to get a couple of pupusas with yuca frita and chicharron. They also have crema Salvadorea and Kolachampan. They usually take about 20-25 minutes to prepare the food since it's prepared from scratch so we usually call the order in before we arrive. If you want authentic Salvadoran food, this is definitely the place!
I had the cheese and the chicken cheese pupusas. They are so delicious! Cooked to perfection and not extremely greasy. It's a hole in the wall place and has plenty of parking. Casual atmosphere and friendly staff. I'm definitely coming back again.
I eat the pupusas from here at least once a month. This place really is a hole in the wall. It's pretty easy to miss since it's not flashy from the outside, but the food is reasonably priced and delicious. I can really only vouch for the pupusas as I don't bother with any of the other menu items. They really do taste better than ones I've had in El Salvador.
Good place for breakfast. Ordered desayuno tpico (typical breakfast) #1: Huevos, chorizo, casamiento y pltano frito. I ordered Atole de Elote to go with my food. It was all delicious and full of flavor. It's the first time I ordered a Salvadorian breakfast plate and I don't regret it one bit. I received the personal attention that made me feel like one of their family members. I will definitely come back to try the other plates. Great place to eat!!!
I have gone to many Salvadorian restaurants because my mom is always looking for authentic tasting food that reminds her of food she ate back in El Salvador.
I can honestly say this place delivers that. They have a lot of choices in pupusas and if that isn't what you want they have a a lot more to chose from. They do take a while to make your food but you can call ahead. If you want to add or change something in your dish they gladly do it.
The staff is very friendly and don't be afraid to go in. Don't judge a book by its cover.
Yum! I love to have some pupusas that remind me of El Salvador! My Tia is sick and she was craving some pupusas and plantains. We went to get atol de elote for her, but they ran out. The pupusas were delicious! Definitely bigger and tastier than what we have at our local restaurant.
Great food! The pupusas are the best I've tried since moving here from Hollywood. I also had their pastelitos and they were delicious. I will definitely be coming back to satisfy my pupusa craving. The people here were very nice and prices are affordable.
I love the pupusas here. The staff is super friendly and will hook it up with curtido and salsa roja if you ask. One time my husband and I dropped in after they had closed, but they were nice enough to reopen the kitchen just for us. This is the only place in Downey, Ai buy my pupusas from now on.
The pupusa's here explode with flavor and for $1.50 each you can't beat that! The location sucks and it's a sweltering kitchen inside but so worth the cuisine you are about to experience. Hole in the wall spot worth the hot experience.
Amazing! The pupusas were so good! It was like eating the pupusas around 8th and Alvarado in LA where it's predominantly Central American so you know it's authentic. Good prices, clean. Looks like a hole in the wall on the outside but it's quite nice on the inside. Pupusas are around $2-$2.50 depending which kind you get. Their platanos fritos are sweet and perfectly priced for the big portion you get. They also sell imported beers from $2-$5 which is cheap. Definitely recommend to anyone craving pupusas. It tends to get warm inside so if you can order to go.
Humble small business with friendly service and great food! Craving pupusas, came here with my Husband and ordered cheese pupusas and empanadas de platano. Very good, we will be back to try more of their dishes, but I will also order cheese pupusas again. There is no air conditioning, so be advised on a hot day.
Got lupus as de queso con chicharrn they were amazing im not salvadorian but these are some of the best I've had , we also ordered chicharron con yucca frita ! Also pretty great in flavor
Some of the best pupusas I've had, service was great!! Will definitely be coming back!!
Yes! I am a FAN! This place has the best pupusas in Downey! The cheese ones are simply delicious and generously packed with delicious cheese! Getting my mouth watery just thinking about it.
I have only had the Pupusas here, but it is enough for me to want to come back. They are freshly made and full of flavor. I had one with beans and cheese and one with chicharones, they were both awesome. The service is not that great, but is a hole-in-the wall. Other than that, I had no problems. Be warned though that the horchata is El Salvadorian style which is a bit more bittter than traditional Mexican horchata.
Local and delicious pupusas! Yes, finally found a good authentic spot :)
Totally Recommend
This place is great all of their plates are delicious and they have the greatest pupusas around . It is a small hole on the wall restaurant but dont let that fool you . the waiters are very helpfull as well.
Found this place on Yelp. Order mixed and bean pupusas. Very good authentic pupusas. A little slow to make. You can call in your order before. Will return to try other items on menu.
This place is such a whole in the wall, but the pupusas are so bomb. Get the revuelta. Really small place, it's easily missed from the street. Parking in the back.
Dude, this place is off the chain. I always get the pupusas revueltas w cheese, beans, and meat. The plantains are bomb too, but I usually end up bringing them home bc I am full off the pupusas. Omg, and you need to get the Agua Ensalada. It is probably the most delicious drink in the entire universe. Bring cash--this place is so mom and pop, that that's all they accept!
I'm slowing starting to explore the Salvadorian cuisine and stumbled upon this interesting spot during one of my lunch breaks :)
I ordered 2 vegetarian based pupusas and became nervous when the order wasn't ready after 20 mins (my break typically lasts 45 mins), but the quality and the flavor of the pupusas were completely worth the wait.
The serving size was also very nice, since I was satisfied after eating a whole one, plus half the second one.
There's a huge variety of pupusas and other dishes that I'm eager to try. Will definitely return!
Let me just say OMG. It is so difficult to find a good pupuseria these days. I randomly found it on my way to the post office next door. This dish is not difficult to make, but not anyone can make it. Many have tried but not all succeed. They might think that they know, but no way.
This place is a hole in a wall but it is totally authentic. It makes you feel like you are in El Salvador. Their customer service is wonderful. The food takes a while, but you have to keep in mind that they make it from scratch as soon as you order it. The pupusas are awesomely flavored. Let me say the curtido or cole slaw is spiced just right. Everything taste so fresh.
If you are looking for a place to eat that has an authentic taste and feel, this is the place to go.
First time ordering food and the place literally is a hole in the wall without the name on the outside of the establishment. It did take a bit to get our food but keep in mind that the food is done by hand and fresh. Besides all this the pupusas I ordered were awesome!!! I went by the reviews and ordered extra for the following day. Being 6 months pregnant I was definitely hoping that they were good and I wasn't disappointed. Will definitely go back!
My wife is Mexican! I'm Central America. I was looking for some good El Salvador food cook by Salvador people and found this place on Yelp! Can't stop eating at this place my wife is not to fond of this place ( it's the Mexican in her) but I love to eat here, it is so authentic. If give this place chance you will not regret it!
Delicious! I've been back a few times since finding this place on Yelp. The person working the firat time I went didn't realize they are on social media, lol.
1st time coming here. Def did not expect much. When you grow up having homemade Salvadorean food next door everything else is just meh.
Really small place, but very clean. Didint have to wipe doen my own table. 2 TVs one on each wall, parking is shared with apartments in the back.
Now to the nitty gritty, pleasently surprised at the flavor of the pupusas. The empanas de platana were a let down, not droed enough and too chewy. The revueltas were awesomeSauce chicharron filling actually had flavored. This is now my 2nd go to spot for Pupusas. El Molcajete is still the best in my book.
Looks of the place is not so appealing regardless we were hungry and stopped to eat here..
inside its pretty average.. Small...good thing they have two tvs' so u can enjoy the game.
service is not the best I've ever had, I mean its no cheesecake factory lol.. BUT its decent.
u can enjoy a couple of beers but not big enough to bring so many friends. Its a very relaxed-family-kind- of restaurant.
From what I observed its very clean from where u sit to the walls and kitchen.
Their tamarind, horchata, and jamaica drinks is not 'home made'..its like the ones u get at the taco place nearest u. So don't expect Salvadoran horchata here.
Food came exactly at 10minutes!
Food was AWESOME!!
Pupusas revueltas were mighty tasty. And not greasy! The platanos fritos with blended beans and cream were perfect. Take out in the future is a go.
This place is amazing if your craving Pupusas! They are so warm and fresh and I love how when you cut them the cheese just runs out! I prefer the bean and cheese it really depends which ones you enjoy! Trust me once you eat one you'll be craving for more! Overall this place is AMAZING!
Just a heads up there is construction in front so go in through the back!
*CASH ONLY
Authentic Pupusas! I mean that sums it up, you'd have to come try them yourself to believe me. I ordered the "Tipico#2" plate which is a combination of pupusas platanos and beans. I recommend this place to anyone trying to have some good tasting pupusas.
*Disclaimer* I am not Salvadoran but I have tasted authentic, homemade, fresh from El Salvador pupusas so I know a little bit about what's good and what isn't in regards to these delicacies!
So my friend posts a picture of the pupusas she's made at home for dinner and that triggers a craving for them. Yelp to the rescue!
I don't know how many times I've driven down Imperial and I've never noticed this place! If you're heading west bound from Paramount Blvd it's on your right hand side. There's a drive way to enter into the parking lot in the back. You can enter the restaurant through the back door.
The restaurant itself was so hot inside! Despite fans blowing in there it felt like an oven! Luckily I was getting my pupusas to go.
The restaurant was empty which was not a problem for me. I ordered a shrimp pupusa and a vegetarian pupusa. My order took a while to get ready but that's a good thing, it meant it was being made fresh! I think in the future I'll definitely order ahead to save time.
I didn't study the menu too well but I did notice that they had Mexican food as well. The restaurant looked clean, colorful and room for about 25-30 people. My to go order came with the traditional curtido and salsa. The curtido was a little spicy for my taste but I was still able to handle it.
The pupusas themselves were pretty delicious! I was very content with them. They had jusy the right amount of cornmeal masa, cheese, and veggies/shrimp. I was happy and fulfilled when my meal was done. I will definitely be coming back here to fulfill my pupusa cravings in the future! I'm really happy with this local find!
Dute, yeah dute, this was some bomb af food, dute!
I do it big no matter what, dute.
I had a Modelo...
I had a Regia 32 oz...
I do it big, dute.
I make a cheeseburger out of pupusas, dute.
I put one queso on the bottom, put some frijoles y arroz on top of that, wid some crema y curtido on top of that, and then put the revuelta on top of that and then more frijoles y crema y arroz y curtido y salsa y sal...
Damn, dute... I'm bloated!
I've been here twice and I love their beans! I'm very particular about my refried beans and theirs are what I've only tasted in a place far far away.
I've yet to try their Pupusas which I will Have to make room for next time. Seems when I come here I crave breakfast.
There is some construction going on in the front but plenty of parking in the back.
**note: Cash only
Really good food and good prices, food does take a bit because it is mostly made to order so go with some time to spare or order ahead over the phone.
Place is nice I went for the first time with my family. Server was friendly food was OK. Place seemed clean. The server spilled the drink on me and didn't even apologize she ran to get the mop she didn't even give me napkins to clean myself. I had to use baby wipes, but its OK she made up for it with her good service
The best pupusas!! When ever I am in Downey I always come here!! It's a tiny hole on the wall type of place but they have excellent service and great food. Pupusas revueltas are my favorite. Prices are reasonable and they take debit cards too. Got to check it out!!
If you want to try real pupusas, come here I know you will come back again very taste and healthy food.
I love this place.
The food was good just go there when you have time because take a little long to make the food. Also try to take cash but there charge you to run your card.
Love this place! Their pupusas are delicious and their pricing isn't bad at all! This is our go to place every time we want pupusas
This place is delicious period.
Being half Salvadorian, I've had my fair share of pupusas and this place has to be on my top 3.
Their horchata and ensalda drinks were refreshing yelp.com/biz_photos/la-p
yelp.com/biz_photos/la-p
Their fried plantains with sour cream and beans were great, even though I wish I would have asked for the plantains to be a little more over cooked (not too soft, if that makes any sense) yelp.com/biz_photos/la-p
My all time favorite pupusas are the revueltas (mixed ingredients of cheese, beans, and chicharrn/fried pork crackling) and Pepeto's revueltas were very tasteful. The filling was right on point. What I did enjoy is that there was plenty of filling, unlike some places were all you have is the handmade corn tortilla and not enough filling.
yelp.com/biz_photos/la-p
Their pupusa de queso (cheese pupusa) were also good, that cheese was literally falling from the sides of the corn tortilla, loved it!
The curtido, all I have to say is yummmm! Yes, they have it in a container reused from one customer but in all honesty, if you've eaten at Salvadorian restaurants, that's all you see (the majority of the time). Get over it. It's not like you're using your hands to grab it... they have tongs! Some people are just too damn sensitive.
yelp.com/biz_photos/la-p
Anyway, I can't talk about the rest of their food since I have yet to try it, but I can speak on behalf of their pupusas.... delicious!
Love this little whole in the wall! There pupusas are made to order and tasty and they have great ensalada too!
Been here twice. Really good pupusas but they charge more than other places around downey. The my remodeled the restaurant and it looks very nice and clean. So that's a plus! I would recommend this place. Just be aware that if you go for pupusas they charge more than many other places do.
This is a little, hidden treasure in Downey. I've lived here off and on since 1965 and never been in until last night. A friend and I went in and were very pleasantly surprised. The server was friendly and helpful, as neither of us had had Salvadoran food before. She suggested some things and they were excellent! We had platinos (like a banana, but mashed and fried with sugar on them here) for dessert. The prices were good and the cook talked to us on our way out. Parking in back is free. I'll go there again!
This is very good El Salvadoran restaurant. We mainly come to eat their pupusas. The restaurant needs a little bit of work or upgrade in the inside. The food is great!
Best place for Pupusas! Definitely shld try it. Takes a while to make but I love my food fresh out! Not your local fast food place. You guys shld try the revuelta pupusas.
The pupusas are good. I just wish they were a bit faster.
I understand it takes a while for pupusas to be made, that's why I called in my order 30 minutes before my lunch. It was ready in 45 minutes which is not a big deal, but they are a bit too "sluggish" for me that it gets me anxious since my lunchtime is short.
Regardless of my pet-peeve.. the food was good and I will return; Ill just call to place my order an hour early. I wonder how their Mexican food is?
Great food! Guess I came at the perfect time because timing of food was perfect. Didn't have to wait very long and the quality was great! Definitely will be coming back. Should say I got the pupusas, casamiento, and empanadas
I had a mad craving for pupusas and did not feel like going all the way to LA for them. I found this place one yelp and decided to give it a try.
I had an issue finding the place since it looked like it was under construction at that time I visited. If I remember correctly, it shared a small parking lot with an apartment building. Location was a bit weird.
I entered through the back and was greeted by a kind man who led me to the dining area.
After browsing the menu, I decided to get the pork, cheese and beans pupusas with an ensalada drink dine in and chicharron pupusas to go.
The picked cabbage was good along with the ensalada drink. However, it was a little bland in taste (healthy version I suppose). The chicharron I took home was more salty and tasted better.
Overall, my experience went well. Good service, reasonable pricing and decent food, but I hope they enhance the taste of their pupusas.
The pupusas at this place are fairly standard in taste but they come alive with a little help from the mildly spicy curtido and tomato sauce. Don't expect gigantic face sized pupusas oozing with grease and cheese. In fact, a good pupusa should be contained for the most part until you start devouring it. I would say La Pupuseria Del Pepeto finds a good middle ground between quality and bang for the buck. Oh, and they have parking in the back. Give this spot a taste!
Pupusas were very good. Restaurant is also a very cute quite place, I was surprised they sold alcohol. But I was most impressed with the service. Our server was Mari, she was so very welcoming, sweet and friendly. I will definitely go back because of the impression she left on me and my daughter.
Great little place to eat pupusas and salvadorean dishes, even salvadorean beer is available here. Great prices and deals on combos. Service is good and the pupusas I've had here have been pretty good.
